Since 1987

A family business in Alderley Edge

Established in 1987 by Jim McSorley and now led by Shaun McSorley, TravelOptions has spent nearly four decades putting together global events, incentive travel programmes, corporate hospitality and bespoke conferences.

Our story

Handed on, not sold off

Jim McSorley founded TravelOptions in 1987 and spent more than three decades building it into an events agency clients came back to year after year. Over that time the company has run more than a thousand events across over a hundred destinations.

The business has now passed to his son, Shaun, who runs it today. That matters for a practical reason rather than a sentimental one: nothing about how the company works has been handed to anyone outside the family. The relationships Jim built are the same relationships, and the people who answer the phone are the people who own the outcome.

Acting as a trusted extension of your team, we draw on a deep global network to handle international complications without them becoming your problem — and we take on as much or as little of an event as you want us to, from concept to completion.

I felt the pressure stepping into the family business, given what a legend of the industry my dad is. But I knew I had the right role model beside me. Jim passed on a wealth of knowledge and still gave me the room to shape the business into what I wanted it to be. I am proud of our TravelOptions family, and of what we accomplish together.

Shaun McSorley, Managing Director

What has not changed is the size. We have had chances to grow into something with a call centre and an account management layer, and have not taken them. A corporate trip lives or dies on whether the person running it knows your business, and that does not scale.

How we work

Four things we do not compromise on

One contact, start to finish

The person who quotes your event is the person who runs it and the person who travels with it. Nothing is handed to an account manager who was not in the first conversation.

We will tell you when it is wrong

If the destination does not suit the group, the budget will not stretch, or you do not need us at all, we would rather say so than take the booking and hope.

No booking engine

Everything is quoted individually, because a group of twelve directors and a group of eighty qualifiers are not the same job and should not cost the same per head.

We are there on the day

Someone from the team is on the ground for every trip and every hospitality day. It is the part that cannot be systematised, and it is most of what you are paying for.

The team

The people you would actually deal with

Six people. The one who quotes your event is the one who runs it and the one who travels with it.

PLACEHOLDER — headshots needed for all six, plus a line of bio each. This section is the single strongest argument for using a small agency, so it is worth proper photographs rather than phone snaps.

Shaun McSorley

Managing Director

PLACEHOLDER — one or two lines on what Shaun looks after day to day. The handover story is already told above, so this does not need to repeat it.

Whitney Adams-Mellor

Head of Events

PLACEHOLDER — what Whitney looks after, and something that makes her a person rather than a job title.

Jim McSorley

Legend & Advisor

PLACEHOLDER — a line or two on Jim founding the company in 1987 and what he still advises on.

Yuliia Reynor

Finance Controller

PLACEHOLDER — what Yuliia looks after.

Judy McSorley

Co-Founder & Data Protection Officer

PLACEHOLDER — a line or two on Judy co-founding the company and what she looks after now. She is also the named contact for any data protection question.

Georgina McGregor

Event Planner

PLACEHOLDER — what Georgina looks after.

Who we work with

The same names, year after year

The best argument for how we work is that clients do not leave. Repeat business from companies like these is what the last three decades have been built on.

  • Bridgestone
  • Crown Paints
  • Assurant
  • Lookers
  • Arnold Clark

PLACEHOLDER — supply client logos if you would rather show marks than names. Each needs the client's permission for logo use specifically, which is a separate question from being named.

Accreditation

Member of ABTA

TravelOptions is a member of ABTA — The Travel Association. ABTA membership means we work to a published code of conduct and that the arrangements we make for you are covered by ABTA's scheme of financial protection where applicable.

PLACEHOLDER — confirm the exact wording of the financial-protection sentence above with ABTA before launch. ABTA sets rules on how membership and protection may be described.

Two businesses, one family

Alongside TravelOptions, we runTravelOptions Sport, which handles matchday hospitality at Anfield as an official hospitality reseller for Liverpool FC.

They are separate businesses with separate websites, but the same people stand behind both — so if a conversation about an incentive trip turns into a question about football, it is the same phone number.
